Tuesday Update – Tsumeb

SEPTEMBER is here and that can only mean one thing - the Hardrock Summit show in Denver, is nearly upon us. From September 10-13 we will be based at The Westin Hotel Westminster, 10600 Westminster Blvd, Westminster, CO 80020 USA and look forward to seeing you there.

Our displays will be rich in aesthetic classics including some of the exceptional American minerals that we have acquired within the last year, especially from Arizona.

It is pretty much guaranteed that we will also showcase some delights from the world’s most famous mineral locality – Tsumeb mine in Namibia.

Recognizing the importance of Tsumeb mine to collectors, we have made it our aim to locate and acquire historic Namibian collections when they become available. Within the past year, or so, this has included the famous Weyand Collection in Tsumeb town, and two amazing German-based collections: Hettrich and Kessler.

A search of our website shows that we have over 470 specimens from Tsumeb mine available, but that is really just a snapshot of what we have in stock, so if you can’t see what you want, always ask as you never know what we have waiting to be uploaded.

Today’s selection adds to this list and features wonderful discoveries within those collections as well as from many more acquisitions.

Certain iconic species feature heavily, such as Cerussite and Dioptase, but a few rarer finds are included also. Apart from my Collector’s Choice, I am also rather partial to a nice pink mineral, so the Cobaltoan Smithsonite’s are always very tempting.

I also never tire of seeing great Dioptase’s from Tsumeb. The best are beyond compare, with a lustre and contrast which leaves every other world occurrence trailing behind.
