Often overlooked because of the profusion of exotic rarities and brightly coloured species at Tsumeb mine, Calcite from Tsumeb can form quite spectacular crystallized specimens, sometimes of a considerable size. This was particularly apparent with the generations-old Weyand Collection kept in the town of Tsumeb. This cabinet-sized Calcite from the Weyand Collection is really lovely, forming a pure crystal aggregate with glassy and translucent sharp rhombic forms with complex stepped faces and an underlying pinkish colour with reddish zonation along some edges providing excellent character. There are one, or perhaps two areas, where the edges of the sharp crystals have been very slightly chipped, but this is barely visible and overall this is in extremely fine condition. A very classy Tsumeb Calcite.
