Although not the Type Locality, Tsumeb mine is the undisputed king of Dioptase localities because of the perfection in shape and supremely bright glossy lustre of its crystals, but most of all because when these already superb attributes are combined with a contrasting white matrix with the individual crystals spread out, they just look so dreamy in comparison to other Dioptase occurrences. This magnificent display plate is small cabinet in size, but is at the highest level of quality, with individual Dioptase crystals reaching an impressive 1.7 cm in length, with several over 1 cm long. Most importantly, all of these are in perfect condition and lay beautifully across their white Calcite base. It is accompanied by a custom-made Sunnywood display stand, positioning it perfectly for show. Ex Professor Werner Paar Collection.
