Now an iconic form of Wulfenite, this beautiful habit of rich orange, resinous to glossy, thick square-section tabular crystals sat gracefully upon a contrasting creamy-white bed of Calcite was found in the famous Erupción mine at Los Lamentos during the 1980s. Once well-known at mineral shows, this distinctive form of Wulfenite is now hardly seen in high quality specimens, but they remain ever so popular with collectors. Forming a nice, shallow, open vug, the 4.5 mm thick bed of white Calcite is liberally carpeted in well-formed tabular Wulfenite crystals to 6.5 mm on edge on this attractive small cabinet-sized display specimen. Careful inspection reveals that the tabular Wulfenite crystals display the subtle 'sandwich' colour zonation, with a slightly darker orange layer running through the centre of the platy crystals with slight paler sides. A few of the crystals around the edges show minor chipping, but overall this is in fine condition.
