It is always pleasing to come across a specimen which is so iconic to a specific locality, that one doesn't need to pick up the label. That is exactly the case with this relatively recent (2024) Fluorite on Pyrite from the remote Milpo mine in the Atacocha mining district, Pasco province, Peru. As if by fate, the pyramidal shape of this individual Fluorite crystal (one half of an octahedra) and its fine stepped surfaces mimics the ancient Inca temples found in Peru and across South America, but in a translucent to transparent lime jelly colour. A small cluster of bright golden metallic fragmentary Pyrite crystals sit within one side of the base of this Fluorite crystal, its base being a fracture across the lower half of the crystal upon which it sits upright for display. There is some minor discrete scuffing to the edges of the crystal, but overall it presents as a really fine miniature specimen with a form unique to Peru.
