This wonderfully aesthetic Fluorite-Calcite combination specimen comes from the lesser-known Xihuashan Ore Field in Dayu Co., Ganzhou Prefecture, Jiangxi Province, China. Although not provenanced to a specific mine, this specimen from Arvid Pasto's famous worldwide Fluorite collection is probably from Piaotang mine, a little-known mine that has produced some truly worldclass specimens, but which often get relabelled as from Yaogangxian mine in Yizhang Co., Chenzhou, Hunan approximately 90 miles to the west, due to their similarities. Comprising dominantly Fluorite, and exceptionally gemmy purple Fluorite at that, this small cabinet-sized specimen is enhanced yet further by a superb stack of platy cream coloured Calcite crystals rising like a stalagmite up from the surface of the Fluorite. The Fluorite crystals display an attractive thin darker purple outer band and are mostly in very fine condition with small groups of Muscovite mica on the back of the specimen.
