Originally described in 1772, there is quite some history to the lead molybdate species Wulfenite, and this fine, yet delicate, thin, cabinet-sized plate of mustard-yellow platy crystals from its Type Locality at Bad Bleiberg in Carinthia, Austria is a really superb example from this famous historic lead-mining region. The crystals, of which there are many in a broad range of sizes crisscross each other standing up across a classic chalky-white matrix. They are all in really good condition, the largest reaching 1.4 cm on edge, but joined, overlapping with another to reach 2 cm across in total. The crystals are typically (for Bad Bleiberg) opaque and present a resinous lustre, rather than glassy. A really fine display specimen from this most important of Wulfenite localities.
