Brazil is famous for the gem species Topaz, but not just in one form, but at least three styles: golden 'Imperial' Topaz; blue Topaz; and colourless Topaz. Crystals of all three types can reach large proportions, although the 'Imperial' variety tend to be smaller. The colourless variety tends to show the finest examples of crystallization, often revealling a complexity of crystal faces and this individual miniature-sized crystal from Itinga in Minas Gerais state is a really excellent example of this. Cleaved across its base it presents textbook faces right across its sides, shoulders and summit, and is water clear, with just minor bubble-like inclusions. There is minimal chipping around its faces, other that around its base. A super example of a Topaz crystal.
