In the clamour for colourful secondary minerals from Morocco people often forget the immense quality of some of the primary ore minerals. Skutterudite is a classic example, where Morocco has undoubtedly produced the world's finest crystals. This small cabinet specimen is a stunning example of the remarkable quality of Skutterudite from Ait Ahmane near Bou Azer. It features fresh, silvery metallic cubo-octahedral crystals reaching a ginormous 2.7 cm across. These crystals are not only very well formed, but have only the slightest of edge wear. The rear of the specimen is a broken surface of solid Skutterudite. Ex Nick Hawes collection.
