In 2019, interesting Quartz specimens started to appear from the Chiredzi mining district, at Masvingo, Zimbabwe but their supply was short-lived. The defining features of this deposit are well-formed, gemmy Quartz sceptres, usually with Amethystine tops. This smaller cabinet-sized crystal is one of the largest ones we have seen from this discovery. It has great deep purple zones, glassy recessed 'skeletal' faces, and lovely shape, forming almost a bipyramid, but with the broken stem of a sceptre seen at the bottom. There are the tiniest of chips along one edge of its termination, but otherwise is superb.
