Known since about 1999 for great Japan-Law twinned Quartz crystals, the Pampa Blanca District in Castrovirreyna Province, Huancavelica Department, Peru was previously only known for Epidote and Axinite in terms of notable mineral occurrences. The supply of fine, display quality, damage-free twins on matrix is rather limited coming from two main claims': the Flor de Peru (Flower of Peru) I claim; and the Rosario Mabel (sometimes called the Flor de Peru II) claim some 50 miles to the north. We have no details on which claim this smaller cabinet-sized display specimen came from but this Peruvian Japan-Law twinned Quartz is about as good as they get, providing an exceptionally high quality display of not one, but two twins. As if that isn't enough, the presentation is further enhanced by longer 'normal' terminated prismatic Quartz crystals extending outwards in a beautiful spray. All this, within a perfectly balanced smaller display specimen which sits naturally for display. The largest Japan-Law twin reaches 4.5 cm across and the second, about 2.5 cm across sits at almost 90 degrees to the first. Both are in perfect condition and if I do say it myself - are magnificent.
