The silver mines in the Cobalt area, Timiskaming District, Ontario, Canada have probably produced the world's finest examples of 'leaf' Native Silver, much larger and more spectacular than any other occurrences. Formed as thin veinlets cutting through joints and fractures within rock, the rock type in the Cobalt area mines is unusually forgiving in being able to be split, with the strong yet flexible sheets of metallic Native Silver staying intact and upright. This large, cabinet-sized display specimen, is stunningly sculptural and extremely rich, with the Native Silver presenting a lovely pinkish metallic historic patina. Not just a Canadian classic, but a classic worldwide Native Silver too.
