A beautifully aesthetic group of velvety, botryoidal Mimetite crystals covering a spongy orange-tan Limonite matrix from San Pedro Corralitos in Chihuahua, Mexico. This is one of the most famous Mimetite occurrences known, dating to one find in 1969 and their form is both alluring and unique, making specimens extremely desirable to collectors. The individual spheres on this piece are typically 6 to 10 mm in diameter and vary in colour from zesty-lemon to a rich egg yolk-yellow. Some botryoidal groups show a marked colour change dividing the spheres into two distinct coloured hemispheres. A choice large miniature display of this distinctive habit of Mimetite from San Pedro Corralitos, with a beautiful rich colour too.
