This new style of Malachite-Quartz combination from Mindingi mine in Kambove District, DR Congo has a really excellent level of presentation and has a very different appearance to previous finds. Its beauty is in large part due to the well-balanced shape of the uniformly sized spherical clusters of dark forest-green Malachite and their excellent shimmering chatoyancy, but also their contrast with the greyish-white underlying Quartz veinstone matrix. A few of the Malachite 'balls' are isolated, but many are coalesced, forming grape-like botryoidal bunches. The Quartz on this small cabinet-sized display specimen forms a thin vein, curved, with a mostly hollow rear, making for a quite spectacular appearance.
