There has been a Graphite mine at Kaisersberg in the Leoben District, Styria, Austria since 1755 and although it is still worked today, this specimen comes from the superb systematic collection assembled by the brothers Martin and Michael Günther (1951-2007 & 1956-2021) and is an older one. Large miniature in size it displays the classic grey metallic lustre and scaly, laminated texture of the top quality Graphite for which this mine is famous. A fine pure sample from this important Austrian source of Graphite.
