It seems strange to use the term 'classic' for something found as recently as 2024 but the sheer quality and unique combination of glassy green Fluorite in truncated octahedra (cubo-octahedral) from the remote Milpo mine in the Atacocha mining district, Pasco province, Peru is so special that they are already talked about by elite Fluorite collectors. This stunning larger miniature crystal cluster from this find is dominated by a superb paler emerald-green, translucent to transparent, 4 cm wide truncated pyramid, presenting smooth, yet stepped sides with three damage-free edges and a fine 'square' top. The final pyramidal edge, which runs down the back of the specimen from the display viewing direction is very short from the top and then missing from where the lower part of this side of the crystal was attached to another crystal which is now missing. The main display faces are extremely fine and show lovely development of 'stepping' of smaller cubo-octahedra upwards along its sides and edges. Around its base, this crystal has three smaller truncated pyramidal Fluorite crystals growing out sideways, all in great condition. The bottom of the main crystal is a fracture surface upon which it sits for display. A really high quality and larger sized, off-matrix green cubo-octahedral Fluorite from this remarkable new discovery in Peru.
