Niederschlag mine is an active fluorspar producer in the famous Erzgebirge District, Saxony, Germany and periodically new mineral specimens surface from the workings. This small cabinet-sized Fluorite with Chalcopyrite comes from the Neu (New) Straßburger Glück adit showing that it is a modern piece. Forming a fine, matrixless cluster of intergrown cubes, the addition of small golden tetrahedral Chalcopyrite crystals on the surface of the Fluorite crystals provides a touch of class. The Fluorite crystals are themselves extremely glossy, with very sharp edges and fine stepped surfaces across their faces. Colourwise, the Fluorite is zoned, from darker greyish internally, to creamy-brown externally, with brick-red Hematite inclusions. There are some chipped surfaces around the edges of the crystal group, but the crystals displaying centrally are in superb condition.
