Some might say that this Mexican specimen lacks colour, but if it does it more than makes up for this with its excellent contrast in crystal shapes. Predominantly a Fluorite specimen, it features the classic colourless Fluorite for which Naica is renowned, and in a stunning sharp octahedral form. Remarkably, the octahedra from Naica are typically complexly stepped, like Aztec temples, but this octahedral crystal is perfectly smooth and yet very slightly frosted upon its surface. Then, dotted around the fine-grained Pyritic matrix are many excellent, white, sharp rhombic crystals of Calcite. The Fluorite octahedra has a stunning, well-balanced shape, but does have slight chipping down one edge, otherwise it would be absolute perfection. Ex Arvid Pasto Collection.
