As a matrix-hosted Fluorite, this fine, gemmy, glassy, deep amber to burnt orange display of intergrown cubic crystals from the famous Cave-in-Rock area of the Illinois - Kentucky Fluorspar District is a really great smaller cabinet display piece. Reaching to 1.5 cm on edge, the Fluorite crystals are not the large individual cubes for which Cave-in-Rock is renowned, but they combine to make a really fine aggregate for display. Added to that, several white, quite elongated, 'dogs-tooth' Calcite crystals sit upon the surface of the Fluorite crystals in what is a classic association for this occurrence. There is some minor chipping to a few of the edges of the Fluorite crystals, mainly around the edges of the specimen, but their faces are extremely glassy. At certain angles the gemmy Fluorite crystals show flashes of darker, almost purple, lines along their outer edges, making for a striking display. Ex Arvid Pasto Collection.
