Beautiful and delicate fan-like radiating sprays of needle-like pistachio-green Epidote crystals reminiscent of the quills on a Porcupine and reaching 2.5 cm in length are intergrown with small (5 mm) well-formed sharp, bladed, brown Axinite-(Mn) crystals and many similar sized colourless narrow, 'needle' Quartz crystals. From a mountainside exposure in Canta District, Canta Province, Peru originally discovered in about 2015, it is only recently (2024) that the aesthetic quality of specimens has reached this level. This superb cabinet-sized display specimen shows how great the specimens can be, with damage-free free-standing acicular Epidote crystal sprays like nothing else we have seen worldwide.
