Admittedly on the smaller size for a DR Congo specimen, but this miniature is absolutely stunning under magnification. A wedge-shaped piece of beige-coloured rock matrix is coated with a thin layer of brown botryoidal Goethite but this is mostly obscured by the infusion of colour on top. Where exposed, the dark brown bubbly surface of Goethite is occasionally studded with sparse small olive-green acicular velvety sprays of Kolwezite. Most of the Goethite is covered in rising pagoda-like stacks of vivid pink rhombic Cobaltoan Dolomite many of which are topped with glassy colourless, to faintly pink Calcite, or Cobaltoan Calcite crystals. Another larger area of velvety olive-green Kolwezite sits upon some of the Cobaltoan Dolomite. A very pretty miniature from Mashamba West mine.
