Mineral collectors simply love specimens that defy what is expected of a mineral, especially ones where bright colours are involved. This sensational small cabinet-sized display piece from the mysterious Tentadora mine in Huancano District, Pisco Province, Ica, Peru certainly ticks all of those boxes and is freakishly good. Reportedly mined in 2024, I call this type of Chrysocolla, as glossy globules studded all over a large pyramidally terminated white Quartz crystal, otherworldly. The Chrysocolla forms glossy turquoise-blue globules, 4 to 5 mm in diameter, scattered and in some areas coalesced upon the surface of a 6 cm tall Quartz crystal, but also across a second Quartz crystal rising up behind the first. The colour of this Chrysocolla is so intense compared with most other examples of this copper silicate seen elsewhere. Combined with its unusual form, and prominent Quartz crystal backdrop its aesthetic properties are magnificent and with its custom-made Sunnywood acryllic display stand it sits perfectly for display. With exceptional beauty and in perfect condition, this breathtaking specimen is sure to catch the attention of anyone who sees it.
