This relatively flat miniature specimen is entirely Chalcocite forming one side of a vein. The upper surface is 75% covered in intergrown, dark, gunmetal grey, hexagonal platy Chalcocite crystals, exceptionally reaching 13 mm across, although the average is 7 mm. The crystals display a lovely old-time patina, and nice growth lines, and the main crystals show only slight signs of wear. The other 25% of the surface consists of flat, poorly developed Chalcocite crystals and fresher broken surfaces. The rear of the specimen consists of small cavities containing Chalcocite microcrystals and bears an old number "643" and an old label stating "Levant Mine, St Just, Cornwall" accompanies the specimen. Classic Cornish material and nicely crystallized.
