The Wavellite forms several flat radiating aggregates to 21 mm in diameter on a joint surface within clay slate. The central part of the Wavellite is a silky white, to very pale cream colour, with an attractive pale orange outer rim about 1 to 2 mm in width. This all contrasts nicely with the dark-coloured matrix. I never fail to be impressed by the quality of specimens from this famous British locality.
