This ex-matrix, 2.5 cm opaque metallic black crystal has a 1.2 cm long crystal attached at one side.  Tantalite-(Mn) forms a continuous series with Tantalite-(Fe) and was formerly named manganotantalite.  Tantalite mineralisation is often associated with complex pegmatite bodies and this is a terrific example of the species.
