Originally, the Lauvland 01 Feldspar quarry was termed Skavdalen, but several other small quarries within a few hundred metres of this have also been grouped under that name. At 2.9 cm across in its longest direction, this complete, well-formed cinnamon-brown, bladed Monazite-(Ce) crystal is an extremely fine example from this famous Scandinavian locality. It is attached to a thin sheet\/cleavage surface of dark mica, but is near enough an off-matrix single crystal.
