This small cabinet-sized stalactite is great example of this: short and wide and yet full of character. Dark forest-green and with a natural glistening crystallized surface it has an unusual groove running vertical down one side and sections where its sides bulge, almost as if it had once been a gel that flowed, rather than a solid crystalline mass. Then, its tip presents a tube-like opening. Well-balanced, but noticeably heavy due to its density, it makes for a great talking point specimen. It comes from the famous Mashamba West mine, an operation in the Kolwezi mining district that has lasted for over a century and yet continues to produce excellent finds.
