Steinmannite is an obsolete name for an antimony or arsenic-rich variety of Galena. Despite missing its old labels (images are shown though for reference) this undoubtedly very old specimen displays several (at least 4) extremely bright and reflective, small octahedral Galena crystals to 3 mm across sat very 3 dimensionally within an open Quartz-lined cavity with several grey prismatic microcrystals of Arsenopyrite also in association. The Galena crystals have unusually smooth rounded edges and look superb under magnification. The same vein continues for the length of the specimen but as a mostly massive, banded vein, containing Quartz, Galena and an unidentified dark grey, resinous sulphosalt phase. At the other end of the specimen a tiny cavity is filled with finely acicular dark grey matted Boulangerite crystals. A lovely old-time ore specimen from the famous Příbram District in the Central Bohemian Region, Czech Republic.
