Then came new discoveries in the remote mountains in northern Pakistan. In both instances the crystals take on an octahedral form. This quite large individual pale pink octahedral crystal comes from Baha, in Braldu Valley, Shigar District, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan and comes from Arvid Pasto's extensive worldwide Fluorite collection (no. AEP 870). It has a good overall sharp octahedral shape but although translucent some of its surfaces are naturally etched with a rough appearance or are intergrown with surface inclusions. It has a very small area of Muscovite mica embedded within the rear side, but is technically 'off-matrix'. It is intact and unrepaired but does also display internal cleavage planes and internal fractures.
