{"product_id":"fluorite-306","title":"FLUORITE","description":"Known as one of the all-time classic French Fluorite occurrences, Le Burg mine, near Alban, Tarn, Midi-Pyrénées was also the last Fluorite mine to operate in France, closing in 2006. This attractive smaller cabinet-sized display specimen from Le Burg displays the classic pale baby blue to pastel blue colour of crystals for which this locality is famed. The crystals are transparent, but with very slightly frosted surfaces and reach up to 1.5 cm on edge, intergrown as a slightly twisting sculptural aggregate surrounding an inconspicuous colourless to white Quartz central core. A couple of colourless terminated Quartz crystals also overgrow one edge of a Fluorite crystal on one side of the sample. There is much light chipping along the Fluorite crystal edges but this does not distract from the overall fine presentation and colour of this classic French piece. It is getting harder to source larger display-quality crystal aggregates of this famous French Fluorite, with the recycling of older collections being the main route. This piece from the collection of the Reverend Michael Keirle (no.
