Diamonds in matrix are quite rare as most gemstones are extracted and processed as loose gems. Labelled as from Brazil, this crystal is not perfectly formed, but is very bright and has been prepared within the matrix to be viewed to its max. Another very small, micro-Diamond, is visible on the other side of the specimen. Most Diamonds from Diamantina are found within conglomerate, but perhaps a Diamond specialist might be able to provenance this piece a little better. Even so, it is a great handling specimen to show how Diamond crystals are found.
