This ordinarily quite rare lead zinc vanadate reaches crystals of epic proportions and in large dramatically sculptural growths at Berg Aukas in Grootfontein District, Namibia. Not only that, but the crystals can take on a diverse range of forms, but typically based around sharp, bladed edges. This heavy, dense crystal aggregate presents unusually lenticular crystals with sharp edges, clustered in rosette-like masses and with individual crystals reaching 2 cm across. Showing the classic dark cola-brown colour these crystals thickly encrust a matrix of white Dolomite with reddish-brown Vanadinite cores. There is bruising to the Descloizite crystals in two or three small areas, but overall this is a really superb cabinet-sized demonstration of this quite different crystal habit.
