The elongated, rhombohedral crystals average 5 mm long, are semi-transparent, colourless and cover the upper face of a long-narrow mixed sulphide matrix. Traversing across and along the specimen, the Smithsonite crystals gradually grade from colourless to mustard-orange rhombohedral phantoms, aligned within the colourless rhombohedral tip of the elongated form. The Azurite contrasts wonderfully with the matrix - light vs dark, and glassy vs pearlescent. The Smithsonite crystals are quite rounded, caused by hundreds of minute stepped faces on the surface.
