Well developed prismatic crystals of Bustamite from the Zinc Corporation Mine, Broken Hill, NSW. The mine started to work the Broken Hill South block by the early part of the 20th century. The specimen we have exhibits a number of typically rounded Bustamite crystals measuring to 6cm long, etched from the enclosing Calcite matrix. The crystals have a greasy luster, and are translucent with a reddish-brown colour. At one end of the specimen is a black area of Sphalerite with minor micro areas of Chalcopyrite.
