A great cluster of Cuprite crystals from the Moonta area of South Australia. This area was once a major Copper producer from mines such as Wallaroo, and Wheal Hughes (now a show mine). The specimen of Cuprite we have is an intergrown group of crystals measuring individually to 1.1cm on edge. The crystals are represented by the major octahedron modified by the dodecahedron faces. They are well formed with some hopper development, and a deep maroon colouration with a fair silvery luster.
