A classic specimen of Malachite pseudomorphing Azurite from one of the world's major locations for the type. The 'L' shaped specimen is formed of intergrown blocky pseudomorphed crystals to 2cm. The replacing mineral Malachite has a silky rich green radial form. The specimen exhibtis a chatoyant luster on the fibrous Malachite, and also shows a matt blueish tint on some crystal faces. The blue colour is due to a very thin alteration of the Malachite to Chrysocolla (a pseudomorph after a pseudomorph!). There is some associated red-brown Fe-oxide in the cavernous reverse of the specimen. The specimen displays well.
