Cadmium enriched Smithsonite is a rare variety from the Tsumeb Mine. It probably only takes a very small percentage of Cadmium to give the beautiful yellow colour. This specimen has a central display of a superb diverging cluster (measuring 2.5 by 2.5cm) of acute rhombic crystals. They are wonderfully gemmy and translucent light yellow. The crystal cluster sits on a thin bubbly covering of sparkling translucent greyish Smithsonite, on matrix of varied red-brown coloured Fe-oxides and futher deposits of Smithsonite. A very attractive display of this rare colour of Smithsonite.
