An unusual double Dolomite cast with Calcite from the Tsumeb Mine. While it is not uncommon to have a single skin of Dolomite forming epimorphs after Calcite, we are offering a far more uncommon specimen with a twin skinned epimorph. The specimen consists of a top thin domed Dolomite cast faithfully epimorphing rhomboid crystals of Calcite in parallel growth. The second Dolomite cast, measuring 6.5cm by 3.2cm, has grown in parallel against the underneath of these former rhombic Calcites. The rhombic Calcite has since been naturally removed, and later generations of Calcite have formed. The top cast of Dolomite is pleasingly scattered with well developed Calcite crystals to 1.3cm, translucent to near gemmy with a fine luster, and slightly yellow colouration. Similar Calcites have also grown on the underside of this top cast, between it and the lower cast. The second cast is coated on its underside by lustrous gemmy to translucent white intergrown rhombic Calcite crystals. An aesthetic and out of the ordinary specimen from the mine.
