An attractive Fluorite specimen from the Denton Mine, Illinois, USA. The Fluorite displays a classic formation of etched Fluorite followed by an overgrowth of sharply formed Fluorite. The etched part of the crystal shows as a yellow and fibrous white phantom through the healed overgrowth. The regrowth is very gemmy with sharp crystal edges, and stepped growth development. The secondary crystal is light purple with a thin deeper coloured zone within 1mm of the crystal's surface. Blackish areas of a Bitumen are apparent in the etched Fluorite. Beautiful!
