A pleasing array of Quartz from the Banska Stiavnica area in Slovakia. The sharply formed Quartz crystals form a group of long prismatic crystals to 6cm. The crystals display complex growth features at right angles to the c-axis, giving the Quartz a craggy appearance on the prism, and reflecting the light from the many faces. The crystals are terminated by a three faced pyramid, with some development of the six face pyramid. The Quartz crystals are largely colourless and gemmy, some crystals have the merest hint of lilac at their bases. The matrix is a polymetallic crystalline mixture of Sphalerite, Pyrite and Galena, on a first phase growth of vein Quartz. An interesting specimen from this famous location known for its Quartz.
