A rare specimen of Iron Meteorite from the Toluca Valley, Mexico State, Mexico. The Toluca Meteorite fall was first recognised in 1776 by the Conquistadors, although the native people had probably been using it long before this date as a source of Iron. The total mass of the meteorite has been estimated to have been about 3 tonnes, and to have fallen 10,000 years ago. The specimen slice we have displays the typical metallic cross hatching of an Octahedrite meteorite. A chance to own a slice of solar system formation 4.5 billion years ago.
