A single crystal of Witherite on Calcite from the Minerva No. 1 Mine, Illinois, USA. The Witherite forms a fine blocky prismatic crystal 2.5 long by 2.3cm diameter. It displays the typical oscillatory striated growth on the prism faces. The crystal has a sub-vitreous luster, and is translucent with a yellow tinted colouration. The Witherite creates an excellent display on the Calcite matrix.
