A large crystal of Molybdenite on a Quartz matrix from the USA. The bright silvery metallic Molybdenite forms a shallow pyramid-like hexagonal crystal measuring 3.1cm in diameter by 1cm thick, which displays well standing proud from the Quartz matrix. The crystal displays pronounced striation on the crystal faces due to its booklet like growth of thin sheets. The specimen has been repaired, but we can not discerne any sign of repair under the microscope. An impressive Molybdenite.
