BL512
ex. Dirk Rheinlander Collection
Dark green Herbertsmithite crystals with very bright lustre cover most of one face of a Dolomitic matrix. Awarded IMA status in 2003, this is rich example of an unusual Copper Zinc Halide, originally thought to be Zinc bearing Paratacamite. The colour and lustre makes this a eye catching, aesthetic display specimen! As noted on Mindat.org: This mineral gained attention in March 2007 when it was reported that it has very specific and unusual physical properties that make it behave as a new type of matter - how cool!
Size: 4.3 x 4 x 3.1 cm (Small Cabinet)
