ex. Wilhelm Oerter Collection
A vuggy matrix has several clusters of Azurite crystals, in places partially pseudomorphing to Malachite and in many places now completely pseudomorphed into rosettes of chatoyant Malachite. The Azurite is deep blue and transparent, with a very bright lustre forming larger wedge shaped crystals to 12mm across; and smaller bladed crystals forming small rosettes. Bright to deep green Malachite forms beautiful rosettes in several places of pseudomorphed crystals. This is from the first oxidation zone, and was in the collection of Wilhelm Oerter, a mine captain at Tsumeb, who actively collected in the first oxidation zone from his arrival in 1909. Very nice.
