MALACHITE pseudomorph after AZURITE
price: £993 / $1500 / €1164 - This specimen is priced in US dollars, all other prices are approximate
ex. Wilhelm Oerter CollectionFive flattened rhomb shaped crystals of Azurite have been completely pseudomorphed by chatoyant fibrous green Malachite. The pseudomorphed crystals grow from a bright green matrix of Bayldonite or Gartrellite coated by clusters of fibrous Malachite, and dotted with lustrous dark blue Azurite crystals. The way the Malachite pseudomorphs stand like a fan of crystals rising from the matrix makes for a very cool Tsumeb specimen. This is from the first oxidation zone, and was in the collection of Wilhelm Oerter, a mine captain at Tsumeb, who actively collected in the first oxidation zone from his arrival in 1909.
